LeroyDouglas at the bench       Classical beauty and the Art of violin making.

LeroyDouglas   — Violin Maker Eugene, Oregon

My early training in instrument making was under Internationally recognized Viola da Gamba maker Mr.Charlie_Ogle. However my bigger interest was always the violin. Over the years, both passion and commitment led me to Italy in studying the secrets of the Renaissance violin makers.  By understanding the selection of materials and the working methods of the 17th- and 18th-century master makers,  my instruments are created in the spirit of the Cremonese tradition: in beauty, tone, and playability.  As a maker it is about cultivating a depth of sound, including tonal color:  richness, warmth and complexity.  Artistically speaking it is about line, proportion and form.  Aesthetics complement sound.
The combined result—bench made professional quality instruments at competitive prices.

Commissions are two years out.  A few select instruments available at this time.
