Just wanted to check in on my progress with my new Leroy Douglas violin. I absolutely LOVE playing this instrument. The sound is exquisite, and the playability is just wild. Last night I was really paying attention to the clarity of sound the instrument produces and the great intonation. I noticed that overall, the fingering is much more precise and easy to play. I realized that I have to work to bring my playing ability up to the potential of the instrument. An awesome violin !!!   Do I sound excited? More later...

I purchased my Leroy Douglas Violin about two and a half years ago. I was enthralled with the instrument at first sighting, and it proved to be a wise investment. I have also played another of his violins, and also found it to be consistent, with rich, full tone at the outset, and beautifully hand crafted. I have owned 4 violins over time, and my exquisite Leroy Douglas is the favorite, hand over bow!

I have been playing violin for forty years and have had my hands on everything from Strads and Amatis to the rectangular mountain fiddles of the Tarahumaras in Mexico. I own several violins, including two that were built before Abraham Lincoln floated down to New Orleans on a flatboat. I play one violin 99 percent of the time, and that is a 2001 Leroy Douglas which has a powerful but silvery voice that everyone loves. I use it for country music, Mexican boleros, Cole Porter, and particularly the Bach Sonatas and Partitas.
The only negative about this violin is the pirate guilt that nags me when I think how little this great instrument cost me.

Dear Leroy Douglas,

It's now been two years since I purchased my violin from you, so it's about time told you what a wonderful difference it has made to my musical life. It's been, in a word, transformative. The instrument's unusual responsiveness has greatly helped me increase my precision in phrasing. And the tone is to die for. It sounds lovely under the ear—sweet, like butterscotch—and yet it doesn't get lost in an ensemble. Thanks for your hard work and attention!

Sincerely,
Shawn Lockery

The reading about the auction today of the Solomon (ex-Lambert) Stradivari of 1729, brought me by your website. Wonderfully interesting skill and craft you have learned. I have never played a musical instrument  (my internal mathematics don't seem to have that algorithm), but the visual impact of your instruments left a yearning.  Can you spell Tsunami?
Nice violins.

I have been playing my Leroy Douglas violin for about 4 years. From day one, it issued a rich, even tone which complimented my playing style. I have traveled with it in many different circumstances and consider it my "work horse". I love my Leory Douglas violin!

I recently purchased a Leroy Douglas- it now has become my instrument of choice! The deep smooth sound is unusual from a brand new violin and provides an aged quality. It also has a great balance of sounding deep and rich, yet projecting a beautiful singing quality. The workmanship is handsome and clean. The neck and fingerboard fit my hand nicely and notes clear to play. I highly recomend Leroy's work.

Nice website. Have you considered marketing and selling some of the photos that are on your website? Very striking. Just a thought.
